Resourcefulness. Strength. Cultural Pride
Inspired by the Ayuyu, the CHamoru name for the coconut crab, one of Guam’s most remarkable native species and the largest living terrestrial arthropod on Earth. Known for its impressive size, powerful claws, adaptability, and distinct presence in Guam’s jungles, the ayuyu represents resilience, determination, and the ability to thrive in challenging environments.
As a house, Guma Ayuyu honors the strength of our island, the richness of CHamoru culture, and the importance of protecting Guam’s natural resources. Students in this house are encouraged to be resourceful problem-solvers, confident leaders, and proud stewards of both culture and environment.
