Meet the Coach

Coach Alaunah Kailel Merto serves as one of SIFA’s Volleyball Coaches and brings extensive experience, having played volleyball since the fifth grade. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology from the University of Guam and is currently pursuing further education at Chaminade University in Honolulu.

Throughout her volleyball career, Coach Merto has participated in various clubs and organizations that have enhanced her skills both on and off the court. As a coach, she emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and mental resilience. Her approach prioritizes not only athletic development but also the cultivation of character, confidence, and resilience in each student-athlete.

Meet the Coach

Coach Mariah Baza serves as SIFA’s Girls Soccer Coach. Born and raised in Malesso’, the southernmost village of Guam, she brings a strong sense of community, dedication, and passion to the field. She is a mother of three and a fur baby.  She has coached youth soccer with Southern Heat since Fall 2023.

Although her coaching journey is still growing, Coach Baza has shown a deep commitment to learning and improving her craft. She has joined coaching teams and participated in coaching courses to continue building her knowledge, skills, and understanding of the game. Her drive to keep learning reflects her dedication to becoming a stronger coach and mentor for young athletes.
