Meet the Coach

Coach Elcid F. Garcia serves as SIFA’s Cross Country Coach. He is a member of the Guam Running Club Race Officials and a three-time consecutive GRC Runner of the Year. His experience as both a runner and race official provides valuable knowledge, discipline, and inspiration to SIFA’s cross country program.

Coach Garcia’s primary motivation stems from his son, Sean Ivler E. Garcia, whose growth and dedication inspire him to lead with patience and purpose. Through coaching, he aims to help young athletes realize their potential and learn to run not only for speed, but also for self-belief, personal growth, and enjoyment.

Meet the Coach

Coach Al Garrido serves as SIFA’s Girls Volleyball Coach and has been part of the SIFA family for three years. Under his leadership, SIFA’s middle school girls’ volleyball team reached the championship finals during both his first and second years as head coach, reflecting his commitment to player development, discipline, and competitive excellence.

Coach Garrido also serves as an assistant coach for the George Washington Geckos Girls Volleyball Team at the high school level and is a member of the Guam National Coaching Staff for Volleyball. Beyond the school season, he is the Head Coach and Director of Legacy Volleyball Club, one of Guam’s leading youth development programs dedicated to growing volleyball across all levels of play. Coach Garrido is married with three children and two grandchildren, and he continues to be a valued mentor in Guam’s volleyball community.

Meet the Coach

Coach Jay Cruz serves as SIFA’s Rugby Coach and brings a diverse background in athletics, coaching, and officiating. He has coached Barrigada Crusaders football and both men’s and women’s volleyball at the University of Guam. Additionally, Coach Cruz is a referee for the Guam Volleyball Federation.

As a student-athlete, Coach Cruz participated in football, volleyball, rugby, and the JROTC Armed Drill Team during high school. He recently served as a referee at the 2025 Mini Games in Palau, gaining exposure to diverse cultures and styles of play. His broad athletic experience enables him to guide student-athletes with discipline, perspective, and a strong appreciation for teamwork and sportsmanship.
